Golden State Valkyries Make History as First WNBA Team to Surpass $100 Million in Annual Revenue

October 30, 2026

The Golden State Valkyries are rewriting the business story of women’s professional sports, becoming the first WNBA franchise—and the first women’s professional sports team—to surpass $100 million in annual revenue.

The milestone comes in only the franchise’s second season, highlighting the growing commercial power of women’s basketball and the strong demand surrounding the team. According to Sportico, the Valkyries had already crossed the $100 million mark during the regular season, with a potential run to the WNBA Finals pushing gross revenue beyond $130 million.

The team’s success has been fueled by sold-out crowds at San Francisco’s Chase Center, strong merchandise sales and partnerships with more than 40 brands. The Valkyries sold out all 22 of their regular-season home games in 2026, drawing an enthusiastic fan base that has helped establish the franchise as a major force both on and off the court.

The projected $130 million figure would place the Valkyries ahead of 28 of the 30 teams in Major League Soccer, according to a recent report citing Sportico. That figure remains a projection rather than a finalized annual total.

Their financial rise has also elevated the franchise’s market value. CNBC valued the Valkyries at $1 billion earlier this year, making them the most valuable women’s sports franchise at the time.

The Valkyries’ achievement represents more than a financial milestone. It signals the expanding audience, sponsorship potential and investment opportunities surrounding women’s sports—and sets a new benchmark for what a WNBA franchise can accomplish.
