Gospel Legend Marvin Sapp & Dr. La Boris Cole Announce Engagement

February 24, 2026

Gospel music icon Marvin Sapp has announced his engagement to Dr. La’Boris Cole, ushering in a new chapter in his personal life after more than a decade as a widower. Sapp made the announcement in late February 2026, revealing that the romantic milestone was the result of a heartfelt surprise planned by his adult children. What appeared to be a birthday celebration instead became the setting for the longtime friends’ engagement, as Sapp got down on one knee surrounded by family and presented Cole with a diamond ring to signify their commitment.

Marvin Sapp is widely known as one of the most influential voices in contemporary gospel music and a respected pastor. Born in Michigan, he has built a three-decade career as a singer, songwriter, and producer, with hits such as “Never Would Have Made It” that have crossed over into mainstream acclaim and remained staples on gospel and inspirational radio. Sapp is also senior pastor of The Chosen Vessel Church in Fort Worth, Texas, and his work in ministry and music has earned him induction into the Black Music Entertainment Walk of Fame.

Dr. La’Boris Cole, Sapp’s fiancée, brings her own distinguished background to their partnership. A Mississippi native, she is an accomplished therapist, ministry leader, and creative entrepreneur. Cole is the founder and executive director of the Born 2 Danz Worship Arts Conference and serves as the founder and CEO of Cole Associates & Counselors of Texas, a multi-site behavioral health practice. She holds advanced degrees in clinical counseling and focuses on helping individuals recognize their value, heal, and step confidently into their purpose.

Sapp’s late wife, MaLinda Prince Sapp, passed away in 2010 after a battle with colon cancer, and he has been open about his journey as a single father raising his children in the years since. With his children now grown and beginning lives of their own, Sapp’s engagement to Cole represents both a new chapter for his family and a joyful moment celebrated by friends, family, and the gospel community. The couple has not yet announced a wedding date, but fans and supporters have been quick to congratulate them on the news.
