President Donald Trump has selected conservative commentator and attorney Katie Zacharia to become the next White House press secretary, according to reports published Friday, October 9. The appointment would place a familiar Trump ally at the center of the administration’s communications strategy as it works to promote its agenda and respond to questions from the national press corps.
Zacharia currently serves as a senior communications adviser to Trump Media & Technology Group, the company behind Truth Social. She has also appeared regularly as a political commentator on television, including Fox News and Newsmax, where she has defended conservative policies and the president’s agenda.
Before joining Trump Media, Zacharia briefly worked in a communications role at the Department of Homeland Security earlier this year. Her background in law, political advocacy and media commentary has helped establish her connections within conservative political circles.
Trump announced his selection on Truth Social, praising Zacharia’s loyalty and support. He expressed confidence that she would communicate the administration’s accomplishments and work effectively with reporters, the American public and members of his team. Zacharia also publicly thanked the president, describing the opportunity as an honor and saying she looked forward to working with the White House press corps.

If she takes up the position, Zacharia will succeed Karoline Leavitt, who left the role in late August after announcing her departure following the birth of her second child. Leavitt became one of the most visible public representatives of Trump’s second administration, regularly addressing reporters during White House briefings.
The press secretary serves as a key link between the president and the media, delivering official statements, explaining administration policies and answering questions about domestic and international developments. The role can also become a focal point for disputes over transparency, access to information and the administration’s relationship with journalists.
Zacharia’s ties to Trump’s media company and her history of publicly supporting his agenda suggest continuity in the administration’s communications approach. Her performance will be closely watched as the White House navigates political scrutiny and prepares for the November midterm elections.
