Michael Jordan Helps Morehouse College Launch New Multimedia Center for Future Media Leaders

September 24, 2026

Michael Jordan is helping open new doors for the next generation of journalists and media creators at Morehouse College.

The NBA legend and philanthropist, through support from Jordan Brand, helped make the new Morehouse Multimedia Center possible. The state-of-the-art facility officially opened in Atlanta on September 23, giving students access to professional equipment and hands-on training designed to prepare them for careers across the rapidly changing media industry.

Located within Morehouse’s Journalism in Sports, Culture, and Social Justice department, the center is designed as a creative hub for digital storytelling, sports broadcasting, podcasting, filmmaking and emerging media technologies. Students will have opportunities to work with professional-grade equipment while learning from experienced content creators.

The facility includes a modular production studio, editing bays and approximately $250,000 worth of equipment, according to CBS Atlanta. The goal is to give students practical experience that complements their classroom education and helps them develop portfolios and industry-ready skills.

Jordan Brand’s support builds on a commitment made in 2021, when Michael Jordan and the brand committed more than $1 million toward scholarships and academic programming for Morehouse students pursuing journalism and sports-related fields. The new multimedia center expands that investment into a physical space where students can learn, create and collaborate.

Morehouse launched its journalism major in 2022, and the program has continued to develop opportunities for students interested in sports, culture, social justice and multimedia storytelling. The college says nearly 120 journalism alumni currently work in media and sports, while more than 60 have earned advanced degrees in the field.

The impact of the new facility is already being seen beyond the classroom. Morehouse reported that content created using equipment purchased for the center generated more than 1 million social media views in August 2026. The center has also supported work connected to a student Emmy-winning interview produced for The Maroon Tiger.

For Morehouse students, the center represents more than a new collection of cameras, editing systems and production spaces. It provides an environment where aspiring journalists and creators can turn ideas into real-world projects while developing the skills needed to navigate an increasingly digital media landscape.

Michael Jordan’s continued support also underscores the growing importance of investing in opportunities that allow students to gain both academic knowledge and practical experience. At Morehouse, that investment is helping create a new generation of storytellers prepared to report, produce and shape conversations across multiple platforms.
