Atlanta’s High Museum of Art Celebrates 100 Years With Free Centennial Block Party

October 16, 2026

Atlanta’s High Museum of Art is celebrating a century of creativity, culture and community with a free Centennial Block Party on Sunday, October 18, 2026. The celebration will transform Peachtree Street into a lively outdoor gathering featuring live music, DJs, art activities, food vendors and special surprises for visitors of all ages.

The event will run from noon to 5 p.m. along Peachtree Street between 15th and 16th Streets, directly in front of the museum. Organizers are inviting families, art lovers and Atlanta residents to join the festivities and celebrate one of the city’s most recognizable cultural institutions.

Visitors can enjoy a variety of activities, including art-making stations, chalk art, bubbles and interactive experiences. The entertainment lineup will feature DJs, dance performances, live music and other community activities designed to bring people together through the arts.

The celebration also highlights the High Museum’s legacy since its founding in 1926, when Harriet “Hattie” High donated her family home to the Atlanta Art Association. Over the past century, the institution has grown into a major arts destination, with a collection of more than 20,000 works spanning diverse artistic traditions.

The block party is free to attend, although food and some other purchases will cost extra. Admission to the museum’s galleries requires a separate ticket for nonmembers. Organizers encourage visitors to register in advance and plan for heavy crowds. Peachtree Street will be closed between 15th and 16th Streets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and public transportation or rideshare is recommended because parking will be limited.

The centennial celebration marks the beginning of a year of special programming honoring the museum’s history while looking toward the future of art and culture in Atlanta. Through exhibitions, performances and public events, the High aims to make the arts accessible to more people across the region.

For Atlanta residents and visitors, Sunday’s block party offers an opportunity to celebrate 100 years of artistic impact while enjoying a free, family-friendly afternoon in the heart of Midtown.
