The hardest part of a yacht trip was never the yacht. It was the chain of bookings before it: the flight, the ground transfer, the tender, the charter contract, each arranged separately and each able to break the itinerary. Wheels Up and Fraser Yachts have signed a partnership meant to collapse that chain into one call, as Global Glam reported on November 4.
Under the agreement, Wheels Up members receive preferred rates on yacht charters booked through Fraser, with access to Fraser’s network of more than 240 yachting specialists and more than 2,300 luxury yachts available for charter worldwide. Fraser’s clients, in turn, receive exclusive benefits across Wheels Up’s private aviation program.
Dock to deck, by seaplane
The partnership is built around itineraries rather than inventory. Depending on the destination, a trip can combine Delta One commercial service with a Wheels Up private flight and helicopter transfers, or run private from door to dock. In select destinations, Wheels Up’s seaplane operation through Tropic Ocean Airways can land guests beside the yacht itself, a connection the companies call dock-to-deck.
Fraser brings more than 80 years in the superyacht business and 21 offices around the world. Wheels Up brings the membership base and its Wheels Down platform, which already sells members hospitality, events, and experiences on land. The sea was the missing category in that portfolio, and it is the most expensive one.
Private aviation companies have spent several seasons trying to become travel companies, with mixed results. The logic here is sound on paper: the client who charters a jet to the coast is the same client who charters the boat waiting at the coast, and whoever coordinates both keeps the whole fare. Whether one phone call survives contact with August in the Mediterranean is the test the partnership now has to pass.
